Dear Jean---

It is true that hellebore breeders are developing upward facing forms, but to me the nodding flower is part of the 'helleboreness' of hellebores, and I would not have it otherwise. Besides, we only grow modern cultivars in Cuxa cloister, in our ornamental perennial garden. In Bonnefont and Trie gardens, we grow the species known in the Middle Ages.

My hellebores are my pride and joy, though their pink faces stay stubbornly earthward.
