« Back to Right Dittany, White Dittany
Dittany of Crete (Origanum dictamnus) blooms for us from mid-July through autumn. The lipped flowers are typical of the mint family to which it belongs. These delicate purplish-pink blossoms are borne on pendant, pale green bracts tinged with purple. The herb is sometimes called “hop marjoram,” because of the resemblance of these bracts to the female flower structures of the hop plant, Humulus lupulus.
