This silver stain roundel depicts the angel Gabriel announcing that Mary will conceive and bear a son, Jesus. The Latin inscription on the golden banderole above the two figures reads “Hail, full of grace,” and is taken from the Gospel of Luke, 1:28. The golden vessel filled with white lilies alludes to the purity of the Virgin’s womb.
