Flax, Sesame, Poppy

Containers of dried roots and seeds of useful medieval plants grown at The Cloisters are on display in the shed in Bonnefont cloister, which is open to garden visitors during Museum hours. These jars of oilseed were brought out to the garden to be photographed. (While the hulled sesame seeds in this photograph are whitish in color, seeds may vary from tan to gold, grey, or black in color, depending on the variety.) Photograph by Carly Still.
