Greek sage (Salvia fruticosa) is also known as Salvia triloba, because of the three-lobed leaves, which are much thicker and woolier than that of the common sage, Salvia officinalis.
While common sage is hardy to Zone 5, Greek sage is hardy only to Zone 9. Much of the dried and rubbed or powdered culinary sage in the world market is actually a combination of common sage (Salvia officinalis) and Greek sage.
